Made of fermented soybeans, whole grains, water and salt, miso has been a staple food ingredient in Chinese and Japanese cultures for decades. It’s also a food high in antioxidants, with many anti-carcinogenic properties and tremendous health benefits. But it’s a food that’s often overlooked. Bonnie Chung, founder of London’s Miso Tasty has set out to change that by showing people just what they’ve been missing.
After spending some time living in Copenhagen, Alex Hely-Hutchinson discovered a hidden love for grains. She became intrigued with crafting recipes with various grain-bases, such as buckwheat, barley, millet, amaranth, spelt, quinoa and rye.
After feeling overwhelmed with London’s food scene and frustrated with the lack of easy-to-find information, Angelica Malin decided it was time to start her own magazine. About Time turned into her attempt to share information on new openings, events and restaurants with readers in London.

Before opening Violet Bakery in Hackney, Claire Ptak was living in her native state of California. As a former pastry chef for Alice Walter’s Chez Panisse, she learned many of the skills she’d later need to open Violet Bakery, which is now one of London’s most beloved spots for cakes and treats.

HATCH is a multi-purpose space that was converted from a large warehouse vicinity into an eclectic cafe. Situated right next to the Homerton overground, the cafe has desks, a barber shop, regular pop ups and a bar. We caught up with HATCH to discuss about the backstory of one of East London’s trendy hangout spots.
Place the garlic, anchovies, spring onions, greens, parsley, vinegar and lemon juice in a food processor or blender and whizz until finely chopped. Throw in the avocados with and blend until fine.
Vicky Graham knows a thing or two about crafting the perfect donut. Situated in East London's borough of Hackney, her bakery specializes in delicious raised and cake style treats. Each recipe is handcrafted in Vicky's person kitchen through a very lengthy process of experimentation and taste-testing, which she feels is definitely the best part of the job! By mixing classic donut flavours with more eclectic combinations, her menu truly offers something for everyone.
