Oolong Cold Brew

Oolong is a unique partially oxidised tea which sits between black and green varieties. We use Formosa Oolong, from the Northern Hsinchu area of Taiwan. It grows at an altitude of 800m and has an oxidisation level of 65%. It was chosen out of hundreds of contenders for its delicate yet full-bodied taste when brewed cold.

Keemun Cold Brew

Keemun, from China, used to be known as 'The King of Black Teas’. Keemun is grown exclusively in Qimen, Anhui province, situated between the Yellow Mountains and the Yangtze River. Keemun has a subtle malty, nutty flavour to it. It’s our most popular cold brew.

Darjeeling Cold Brew

Darjeeling, 'The Champagne of Teas’, originates from India. Our 2nd flush organic Darjeeling is grown on the ethical Arya estate, established by 18th Century Buddhist monks in the lush green mountains of Darjeeling. A tea used in many breakfast and afternoon blends, it is delicious on its own brewed cold.

Bocha Cold Brew

Bōcha is the tea that inspired Twig Teas! It’s a roasted green tea from Japan, made using the twigs, stalks and stems of Camellia Sinensis, the tea plant. Ours is produced by the tea master Mr Nakagawa, in Shiga Prefecture. It has am unusual rich, woody flavour.

TWIG was started by Iona Carter, a tea fanatic and yoga teacher who loves cycling, walking, and all things Japanese. They are committed to bringing cold brew tea to London in the greenest way possible. The teas are hand-made in Wapping, and then delivered by cargo bicycle around the city. 10% of profits go to charity.

"Our journey began with a cup of cold brew twig tea poured for us in Japan. We’ve been passionate about cold brewing ever since" - Iona Carter.

What's different about cold brew?

Cold brew is a new product on the London food scene and is very different to ice tea. Steeping the tea leaves over a long period of time in cold water draws out different flavours from the leaf. Compared to hot brewing, the process produces fewer bitter catechins and caffeine, resulting in a sweeter, smoother taste and a naturally healthy, refreshing drink.

What's different about TWIG?

We’re tea purists. We believe in giving the natural flavour of tea the chance to sing for itself.

-   No herbal or fruit infusions: tea leaves from Camellia Sinensis (the tea plant) only

-   No teabags: we use quality loose-leaf

-   No sugar: this includes natural and artificial sweeteners

- The only ingredients we use are filtered water and tea.

Ingredients: Filtered water and loose-leaf tea, nothing else. Prepared in a space that handles nuts.
